He is also the technical and managerial supervisor over the product line known as Armored Conduit, consisting of a wide range of protective and shielding devices countering abrasion, cutting, crushing, environmental degradation, chemical contamination, electromagnetic interference and ballistics. A former Adjunct Professor at Wayne State University, Mr. Ballnik supervises technical development, product line testing, supplier management, research and development, intellectual property protection, and manufacturing from prototyping to full rate production.
APS and its other team members add these additional accomplishments, qualifications and skills the company's effort: They were selected to present a technical papers for SAE World Conference's on thermionic energy recovery to supplement cooling automotive cooling systems and other green technologies. They have been recipients of Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) awards. The Armored Conduit product line was a 2009 Semi-Finalist in the American Security Challenge. They have practical expertise and build experience in semi-autonomous vehicles and controls, armoring and survivability, tele-robotics, artificially intelligent systems, coastal and riverine craft, and multi-discipline system integration. They are developing enabling constructs for human performance enhancements using software and advanced electromechanical actuators. They have produced enhanced survivability (advanced armor) materials and systems for avionics and military ground vehicles. The team is experienced in microcomputers, drives, sensors, signal conditioners, power and control relays, and brushless dc motors. They hold several U.S. Patents. members of the team are certified in Six Sigma lean manufacturing.
